Committee Leaders! Just a reminder, we will have our summer cookout on August 8th at 5pm at the home of Laverne Lund. Vicar Jared and his new wife, Nikki, will be there and we’ll all bring something to share and eat together. This is a time to hear more about the details of community life and help our committee leaders find connection to the Council. Additionally, we will have a demonstration of our new community software that will allow leaders to form groups online, email their members and host a calendar among many other things!
Small Group Meetings
Senior Center is on break until Tuesday, September 7th. When they will begin meeting again at 10am Coffee; Programs at 11am and 1pm Lunch at Noon ($5)
Brown Bag Bible Study meets each Thursday @ Noon
Confirmation - A new Confirmation class will begin this fall for Middle School students! Watch for details in the mail or via email.
High School Group - After a great summer trip we take a break until September when we will welcome new members from last year’s Middle School group to the High School Group!
Knit Night - First Thursday of the month! Join us at 7:30pm, bring knitting, crocheting or some other handcraft! Check the website or call the church office for location information.
Play Group (ages 0-3) We are on break until early September. Then we will again meet each Friday morning at 9:30AM. Most Fridays we meet in the church nursery, but occasionally we meet elsewhere. Email Erica, erica at lakeparklutheran.com to get on our email list for location updates or to get on the email list for spontaneous play dates!
Brady Street Bible Study - We are on hiatus until September. Please join us then, on the second Wednesday of the month at Annoydyne Coffee on Brady Street beginning at 8:30AM
Brunch Bunch - We will resume meeting September 18th and meet on the 3rd Saturday each month to discuss current events!
Gals’ Night Out - Wednesday, August, 18th at 7:30PM We’ll check out another new local establishment this month. Join us at 7:30 at Jake’s Custard (across from the CVS on Downer) for a hot dog, custard or both! Then we’ll enjoy a walk and conversations in the neighborhood. If you will be joining us late, please call Erica on her cell phone to see where our walk has lead us. You can also track us down by calling the church phone and dialing into Erica’s voice mail.
Guys’ Night Out - Wednesday, July 28th at Cafe Hollander & Wednesday, August 25th at 8:30PM at Cafe Hollander. In August, we’ll meet for our usual refreshment and fellowship at the Café. This is the night we will meet Vicar Jared and introduce him to life on the East Side!

Ordinary Time. Extraordinary God!
We are well into “Ordinary Time” after Pentecost Sunday. “Green Season.” “Time afterPentecost.” And here we will stay until the end of the fall and the early parts of winter.
Tenth Sunday after Pentecost ~ Enter into the final month of summer as we move full swing into our summer liturgy. The readings today talk about values. Jesus encourages us to seek “the things that are above”.
Eleventh Sunday after Pentecost ~ Hear Vicar Jared preach the Word. Meet and greet and welcome him and his wife, Nikki.
Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost ~ Today we remember Mary the Mother of Our Lord, and what more fitting way to do thatthan to baptize a child? We will baptize Evelyn, the child of Cindy and Dan.
Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost ~ Rejoice and remember the Sabbath day and all the wonderful things God is doing. Let us baptize another child, Eden, child of Rebecca and Nathan.
Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost ~ The texts for this day are humility and compassion and in the gospel, Jesus’ appeal tothe hosts to mimic God’s hospitality to the poor and broken. Thus, that we be an inviting church. Through God’s grace in holy baptism we have a place at the banquet table. And today we will baptize another of our children, Ove, son of Tara and Rob.
