Lake Park Lutheran Church Announcements for the week of July 25th

*The High School Group returned from their trip on Friday and will be in worship on Sunday, July 25, to tell you about it! Eleven people went on the trip, including eight kids and three chaperones (Thank you Pastor David, Kendra Stea, and Dave Summerfield!). During the sermon time they will show slides and regale you with tales of the trip. Be sure to be here!

*As always, we appreciate any donations you can make to the High School trip. Our costs are covered 1/3 by the kids, 1/3 by a grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and 1/3 by gifts from you, and your gifts are matched by Thrivent Financial. Thank you so much! And thank you again to Kendra Stea and Dave Summerfield for leading the group out west! We had a great time!

*Kitchen wish list: We’re going to give our church kitchen some sparkle over the summer. We have posted our wish list of items we could use and we say “Thanks” to those of you who have already purchased new items for the kitchen! *PLEASE NOTE: The Women’s Tea Party has been opened up to include everyone - men too! It is now the Lake Park Tea Party at Jane Nelson’s home and is on Saturday, August 21^st and not on Sunday, the 22^nd as previously stated. All Lake Park friends are invited to Jane’s lovely front yard for refreshments and fellowship. If you can help Jane with setup or with bars or cookies please give her a call. Check with the church office for her number. If you would like to attend and are in need of childcare, please contact Erica Chappelear.

*Committee Leaders Summer Cookout - Committee Leaders are invited to the home of Laverne Lund on Sunday, August 8^th at 5pm. We’ll bring something to eat and share together, and hear the details of community life and help our committee leaders find connection to the church council.  Vicar Jared and his wife Nikki will be joining us!  We also will have a demonstration of our new community software that will allow leaders to form groups online, e-mail their members and host a calendar, among other things.

*Interested in Membership or learning more about Lake Park? There was a Prospective New Member Meet and Greet this morning at 9:15 AM in the Prayer Room. If you were unable to make it and are interested in joining or learning about Lake Park, please contact Erica Chappelear, Director of Lay Ministry at erica@lakeparklutheran.com or 414/962-9190 and arrange another time to meet one-on-one.  We will welcome new members into the community, Sunday, August 1st!

*Lynda, our church secretary, will be out of the office this week, but there will be coverage in the office some of the hours she is gone, mostly between the hours of 10am and 2pm. If she is not in the office please leave messages and someone will return your call. Lynda will return on Monday, August 2^nd.

* Important summer announcement for Our Church deadlines: With vacations and trips on the calendar, the Our Church deadline is early this month. So it is also very important that any of you who have information to put into the September Our Church newsletter get it to Lynda by August 9^th.

*Playgroup on hiatus until September 10^th: The Friday morning playgroup will be on hiatus until the first Friday after Labor Day - summer schedules make it tough to commit to a specific time it seems.  Group members are encouraged to use the email list to connect for spontaneous play dates.  If you have a child under the age of 3, and would like to be on the email distribution list, please contact Angela Oberdeck. You cancall the church office for her contact information.

*Summer Nights with Theresa of Avila - Join us at Pastor David’s for another Sunday summer discussion series. We’ll have a light supper at 6pm followed by a lively discussion of one of the books of Theresa of Avila. She was a leader of the counter-reformation in Spain. Her beautiful writing, her keen insight to reform and her feisty humour are a delight to read. The discussions will begin August 15^th and continue August 22^nd and August 29^th. Talk to Pr. David about the book selection.

*Summer Family Fun Days - Take a splash at Cool Waters Water  Park at Greenfield Park August 15th. Bring lunch for your family and meet at church at noon. We’ll get reduced rates. Lots of fun in store!
