Join us for an Advent Extravaganza

Each year the staff of Lake Park host an all-church party! Come to Pastor David’s the open house from 5 - 8pm.  We’ll celebrate Advent together with great conversation, a stunning array of treats and of course glorious glog.

Bring an item for the All People’s Warm and Wonderful Christmas - Our partner church will be giving away coats, hats, snowsuits, etc. to kids and teens in their church community on Saturday December 12th. If you haven’t had a chance to drop something off at church, bring it to the party and we’ll take it over on Saturday.

After a slight delay due, the new organ pipes have arrived!  Check out the installation progress, Sunday, November 22nd after the 10AM service in the balcony.  Members from the Organ Committee will be on hand to answer questions and explain the work being done!  The organ addition is possible because one anonymous member has given almost 90% of the addition cost over more than 20 years!  That is amazing stewardship!

We had a great time at the Halloween/All Saints Party!  Join us again next year for the haunted attic, carnival games and fun costumes!

If you’re eager and looking to learn more about the Bible, about living life, or about listening to life’s melodies, there are a number of awesome educational opportunites for adults throughout the fall at Lake Park.  Some take place between services on Sunday morning, others throughout the week.  If you have a thirst for learning, come and drink in the intellect, experience, of our pastoral leaders, Pastors David and Sandy and Vicar Matt, as they guide and lead through discussion, study, and questioning.  Classes offered this fall include New Testament 101, Vocation: Listening to God’s Calling in Life, and Tune My Heart to Sing Thy Praise, an exploration of music, faith, and creation.

In the coming weeks and months, led by the intiative of Lake Park’s church council, look for opportunities to discuss the topic of stewardship and how we can be stewards of all that God has given us and how we, together as a congregation, understand what stewardship is and how it is an integral part of our ministry.  You can read Council President Andy Vedder’s musings on a recent council discussion of stewardship, “Confessions from the Church Council” here.

There will be something for everyone as we dedicate our solar roof panels at the annual Block Party on September 13th after the Sunday 10 a.m. service.  There are special plans in place to kick off our solar experience with great fanfare!

This year’s theme, “Celebrating our Past, Embracing our Future,” will both celebrate our rich history as we near our centennial and also look ahead to the future.  Along with a vegetarian feast and other block party fare, members are invited to bring a dish to pass that connects with their heritage or supports local farming.

In addition to great food and fellowship, there will be solar cars for kids (of all ages) to race from WE Energies, Discovery World will be on hand teaching how to make slime, and there will be time for cookie decorating, music from our own youth, the dunk tank, where you can sink Pastor David or Vicar Matt, and other surprises!

This Sunday, August 9th, we welcome our Vicar for 2009-2010, Vicar Matthew Kruse.  Like Vicar Kim, Matt joins us from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.  Check out the Meet our Staff Page to learn more about Matt and his interests!

The roofers started work in early July and it took about a week to remove the old slate roof.  This week they have been working on installing the new tiles on the roof and in mid-late August we should be looking at some new solar panels on our roof!

Join us this Sunday as we say farewell to two great Lake Park members!  Erin has shared her musical gift of clarinet performance with us while both and undergraduate and graduate student at UWM!  She is continuing her education in Kansas City!

Russell has been a gift in so many areas of ministry at Lake Park!  He has participated in the choir, as a Sunday School Teacher, as a technology guru - getting our sermons online!, and has worked with our Altar Committee and set-up teams during his time at Lake Park.

This Sunday we take a moment to thank Erin and Russell and bless them on their journies!
