Sunday School

20071016_pageant.jpegAt Lake Park teaching the love, compassion and mercy of God to our kids is central. A typical morning upstairs with the kids will find you washing dishes to teach kids about care for creation, singing songs to teach kids the joy of faith, laughing out loud as kids make crafts and engage in thoughtful (and sometimes very silly) conversation about God.

Ages 2 - 4th grade are welcome!

You can be a part of the learning and fun. If you have a passion and eagerness to help spread the wonderful news about Gods Word and Love this is a great way to do it!

Teach the kids on Sunday Morning. Team teach or solo. Help lead the kids in singing or art projects! Sundays at 9:00 am to 9:45 am during the school year. No previous experience with teaching is required! Talk to our Sunday School Superintendent Colleen. (email link)

Confirmation
20071016_confirmation.jpg
Confirmation at Lake Park is a unique and powerful experience.

Does your grandma tell you horror stories of rigorous tests in front of the church? Did you think confirmation was something to get done with so that you could finally get out of church?

Well, throw all those away.

Confirmation at Lake Park is different.

Think boot hockey and saunas and staying up super late talking about all the wild questions you were always afraid to ask your pastor.

Think silly skits about Luther and serious conversation about how God blesses and loves all people.

Think competitions to see who can run to Judy’s house fast enough to bring her communion.

Eric and Erica lead our kids in the program, Pastor David plays along, and through the process you and your parents grow in faith.

Year after year, our kids stay involved in church, preach in church, and serve in church. Don’t take our word for it, listen to the kids in the movie they made about confirmation last year. (link to youtube video on confirmation).

Peer Ministers

20071016_ice_cream.jpg

If you thought confirmation was wild, you haven’t even begun to experience our high school group.

It is one dynamic, competetive, fearless, and faith-filled group.

Our peer ministry meets every other week on Wednesdays at 6:30.

We also go on many great winter and summer trips/retreats/service projects. This past year we

went on a green excursion traveling to the mountains of Vermont to explore organic farms, the

spirituality of creation, and praying with the monks of Weston Priory (they were green before the word even became hip!).

Our kids also preach, visit homebound members, lead in worship, and overall have a great time. Kendra and Alan help lead our group. Again, don’t take our word for it. Look at the web pages the

kids put up showing their trips (link to photos). Also, watch the movie of the high school summer trip (link to movie).

Every jumped into an ice hole in a frozen lake just seconds after scalding your body at 200 degrees in a sauna? Our kids have. . . fire and ice. . . .does this deepen faith? You bet!

For more information contact Alan or Kendra (emails).

Series are scheduled seasonally either at 9 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Sunday mornings. Hear speakers, study hot contemporary issues, and learn the real meaning of Bible stories. Suggestions are always welcome.

The diversity of thought and talent at and associated with Lake Park really shines in these sessions. Conversations are lead by clergy, lay members, activists, theologians, and philosophers.
