Our Sister Church in El Salvador

Walking Together

Lake Park’s Partnership with Llano el Coyol Lutheran Church

A shared music ministry.

Our sister church relationship is new and is already evolving in exciting ways.

The partnership between our two churches was formalized in 2011 – when a delegation of eight Lake Park members and the church council of Llano el Coyol broke bread and embraced one-another after a week-long visit. Since then, our friendships have deepened through Facebook, Skype, and the simple exchange of photos and news.

Walking together.

Accompanying One Another

Both churches believe we have embarked on a long-term partnership. One built on relationships that may be life-long. We base this on the idea of accompaniment – we actively share our joys and sorrows, walking together in Christ.

Delegations from Lake Park visit regularly and we plan to host our brothers and sisters from El Salvador soon.

We Share a Faith … and a Propensity for Fun!

Right away, we spotted fundamental things about one another that were instantly familiar. We both have a deep tradition of service in our respective communities. We both practice radical hospitality. And we both love to have fun and play together -across the generations!

Llano el Coyol is located in eastern El Salvador at the foot of the San Miguel volcano

It was such a pleasure to meet you and you are the best because you are good people, very fun, and hardworking . . . I hope that soon you will visit us again because the truth is I would like to see you again and the time that we had together continues in our hearts since you all filled a big space with happiness and more in our hearts because it is true that what we shared was so special that it will always be in our hearts. I carry you all in prayer because we loved you all.
